First let me say that I really wanted the title to tie into the book/movie title Perks of Being a Wallflower, but it just didn’t work out, but I still had to follow my heart with my plan.
All young filmmakers know that most likely they will start off doing free lance work right out of college along with part-time jobs before settling in on a permanent career position. With this situation, comes advertising your personal brand. When you advertise yourself, most people will want a business website to view all of your work and see what your have to offer.
Although this post is not about making a website, I highly recommend creating a website, or even creating a vimeo or youtube account to link to a blog sit such as this one.
BUT what this blog post is about is benefits on getting yourself certified on Google Analytics. Now the process may be long, but it is extremely beneficial knowledge that will help you better run your personal website.
If you aren’t really familiar with the term “analytics” it basically means every possible statistic you could want or think of for your website. When you think about it, that is a lot of possibilities and small functions that go into this process. So that is why getting certified with Google Analytics would help you better run your and tweak your website so more people stay connected and focused on your page. PLUS at the end of your little lesson, you get this cool certificate to prove all your hard work.

At this point you may be thinking, ‘what does this have to do with me and my production skills? If I make good looking footage, people will hire me.’ And yes that is true with people in your area and free lance work. But getting certified on Google Analytics will not only help you improve your website to help your word of mouth advertisement, but it could also help you get a full-time career position at a company.
This is an asset that would help set you aside and stand out from other people. With practice, anyone could become good at shooting footage and putting it together, but having this certification in your back pocket, will put you at an advantage above the other in a separate technical way.
